The effect of ion nitriding in a glow discharge on the structure and mechanical properties of P6M5 steel obtained by the method of traditional hot thermomechanical treatment after quenching from 1220°C and 3 times tempering 560°C, and also after quenching from 1200°C and single tempering at 560°C C with a preliminary intense plastic deformation (IPD). It has been established that after ion nitriding, a more developed dark, strongly etching diffusion zone is observed in the sample after IPD. It was also found that as a result of ion nitriding, a significant increase in the surface microhardness of the material is observed ~ 1.7 times after the IPD, and ~ 2 times for the sample without IPD in the streakiness region of carbidenitride inclusions. It is proved that the microhardness distribution over the depth of the diffusion zone in the sample after the IPD is smoother, and the thickness of the diffusion layer exceeds ~ 2 times.Downloads
