Theory of optimum resource utilization by L. V. Kantorovich in cutting-packing problems: overview and history of development of solving methods

Abstract

The article presents examples of solution techniques for cutting-packing problems, which are still relevant to this day taking into account their diversity and many-sided applicability. The scientific papers by L. V. Kantorovich are considered to be fundamental for the development of these procedures. The article gives an overview of procedures for solving cutting-packing problems that have been developed by Soviet and Russian scientists in the last 80 years, including various scientific schools of the USSR and Russia. Summary of solving procedures and the history of their development are also described.
