Influence of iron content on strength and electrical conductivity of Al-Fe system alloys subjected to SPD

In this work, we studied the possibility of improving the properties of Al-Fe alloys with an iron content of 1.7 to 3.4 wt.% due to the formation of an ultrafine-grained structure in them, using the method of equal channel angular pressing (ECAP). It was found that an increase in the concentration of iron in aluminum leads in the cast state to an increase in the volume fraction and size of the intermetallic phase AlxFey and is accompanied by an increase in strength and a decrease in electrical conductivity. It is shown that an increase in the cycles of processing alloy workpieces by the ECAP method from 2 to 4 leads to an increase in strength characteristics without a noticeable change in electrical conductivity. Additional cold rolling makes it possible to achieve higher values of the mechanical properties of the alloys.Downloads
