The article presents the results of theoretical, finite-element and experimental determination of the elastic and strength properties of composite materials (CM) based on a metal matrix. The material in question is unidirectional magnesium carbon. Finite element modeling was carried out in linear and nonlinear formulation. The influence of surface defects of carbon fiber on the strength of the composite as a whole is analyzed. The results of the study showed the need to take into account the microgeometric parameters of the structure and surface defects of reinforcing fibers when determining the strength properties of metal matrix composites. As a result of the research, a new technique for modeling CMs was obtained, which makes it possible to obtain refined mechanical characteristics of composites at the stage of design calculationsDownloads
