Abstract

In this paper, the microstructure and surface of Ti-50.2 at.% Ni alloy samples in a weakly concentratedsolution of hydrochloric acid in coarse-grained and ultrafine-grained states were studied. Corrosiondamage to the Ti-50.2 at.% Ni alloy in acidic solutions occurs by pitting mechanism; the pits areobserved on the surface of the samples by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. This mechanism is characterized by localized dissolution of the metal, which leads to the formationof small corrosion points on the surface of the sample. In some areas in the coarse-grained state, theregions of intercrystallite corrosion were found.
